Welcome To The "Proper Cricket" Darts Game
The Rules Are Simple(ish):
- Players take it in turns Batting and Bowling
- Which team goes first is decided by an initial throw at Bull
- The closest player to the Bull decides whether their team Bats or Bowls first
- If both players hit Bull or both hit Outer Bull - Rethrow or get the handbags out
- Batters start proceedings and they start the game with 10 wickets
- Batters must score above 40 to register a Cricket Score
- Scoring 41 results in a Cricket Score of 1
- Scoring 51 results in a Cricket Score of 11, etc., etc.
- When Batting a dart thrown outside of the scoring surface, or bouncing out of
the board loses 1 wicket (LBW) for the Batting Team
- When Bowling any darts hitting outside of the scoring area or bouncing out of
the board results in 25 runs away which will be added to the Batters score
- Robin Hooding two darts makes the second dart not touching the board null and
void and will therefore not result in scoring, wicket taking or a penalty
- When Batters are on 7 or greater wickets they must throw with their weaker
or as we call it caggy hand. Bowlers will continue with their good hand
- If a Batter puts themselves on 7 or greater wickets with an LBW using their first
or second dart any remaining darts to be thrown in that set of 3 can be thrown
with the "normal" / stronger hand and will be added to "normal" 3 dart average
- You don't have to throw with your weaker hand if you're worried about the
windows but something should be introduced to make life harder
- You could stand on one leg
- Sledging could be actively encouraged (Your Momma jokes basically)
- Or a mixture of the above
- It's up to you but once you're on 7 wickets a Caggy Average will be calculated
- Bowlers must hit Outer Bull to take 1 wicket, Bull to take 2 wickets
- If wickets are taken whilst Batters are on 0 runs, a Golden Wicket is registered
- When Bowling, darts thrown outside of the treble line results in runs away to Batters
- Hitting single 15 outside of treble line scores 15 runs for Batting team
- Hitting double 15 would result in 30 runs for Batting team
- You'd have been better off throwing it on the floor for 25 runs away
- Hitting a treble is fine (No Runs Away)
- Once 10 wickets have been taken, Batting team are out
- If Team 1 (those who Batted first) have a lead of more than 199 runs after the
first innings they can make Team 2 Follow On. A pop-up / Alert Box will give
you the option of punishing Team 2
- Don't disable pop-ups because occasionally you'll get Alert Boxes to guide you
through the game, as reminders and to enter certain data
- When entering runs away by a bowler. Enter the runs away value in the
3 Darts Score box and then hit the "Runs Away by Bowler" button
- Play around with the programme and get a feel for the game before you play
Try different scenarios especially ending an innings with "Wicket Away By Batsman"
and the Alert Boxes I was talking about will become evident
When playing the 3 Player version of this game the Batter goes after each Bowler
If it appears buttons aren't working that's probably because only certain buttons work for each go
For example the Outer Bull and Bull Wicket taking buttons only work when it's a Bowlers go
Additional stats for your game will become available when the game is finished
At present these stats will not be saved, my programming knowledge is not that good
So if you want to keep them make sure you write them down
If anything comes up that isn't covered by the above a very official
Committee Meeting is to be held by players and the rules made up as you go!
If the Committee Meeting ends in a split decision (50:50) you either flip a coin or Arm Wrestle it out!
